The Association for the Promotion of Social Products (APSP) is a newly established non-profit organization composed of industrial, government and academic collaborators to promote social products.

Today, the world is faced with various kinds of social and environmental issues, including global warming, the loss of biodiversity, poverty, and so on. Some of these issues already have a serious impact on our lives, and APSP believes that one of the best ways to resolve such issues is to involve a large number of people. To do this, social products are designed to be integrated easily into the daily lives of as many people as possible so that the product has the potential to make a positive change in society.
Social Products are goods and services supplied by profit-organizations and non-profit organizations that deliver benefits to individual consumers as well as to society as a whole.
Typical social products include ecologically friendly products, organic foods and products, and fair-trade products. In addition, social products can include products where a part of the profit goes to fund charitable organizations and non-governmental organizations etc.
Social Products Award
In order to encourage the broad use of social products and to raise public and corporate interest in such products, every year the Social Product Award commends excellent social products which promote a sustainable society.
The purpose of a social audit is to evaluate and enhance the credibility of social products. This is achieved by verifying the truthfulness/credibility of product labels or what has been said by the company during sales campaigns. This includes claims such as the non-use of child laborer, the use of organic material, donations, and recycling procedures after use and so on. Unless there are third-party evaluations, customers are often left unsure of the truthfulness and scope of the claims made by companies about their products.
Therefore, APSP conducts social audits screening to provide information to consumers about the real nature of the product they are considering to purchase. Audit services are conducted upon request from companies who wish to provide their customers with third-party evaluations.
APSP conducts research on social products, social marketing and social businesses.
APSP also provides support services to companies when they are developing social products, social marketing programs and social businesses.
